German election analysis

Berlin, 15 May 2012: Only two years after the last state election, the citizens of North-Rhine-Westphalia were asked to vote again as the minority government of SPD and Greens did not get a majority for their budget in parliament. The Liberals declined to support a budget that was described as against the state constitution by the Con-stitutional Court of North Rhine-Westphalia.

Political commentators describe North Rhine-Westphalia as the “chamber of Germany’s industrial heart”, home of not less than nine DAX companies. NRW has 13.2 million voters – as much as no other federal state and therewith gives a strong signal on what is the current trend in Germany as a whole.

Interel’s Defence and Security Insight from Washington, London and Brussels.

As a leading international communications company, Interel is involved in many of the defining issues of our era. We unpackage what they mean for our clients and turn them into opportunities for the future.

So in the coming weeks and months we intend to publish online a series of articles and position papers with the intention of generating debate and insight in a way that the international community might find helpful.

Interel is home to some of the leading defence and security public affairs practises in the world. From emerging markets such as Brazil and India through to Washington, London, Brussels and Prague we have an established team of analysts spanning the key security hubs.

So it makes sense for our first set of articles to harness that expertise in order to bring the bigger picture into focus. The short collection of articles, the Interel International Defence Insight, which is published today and which can be linked here below, seeks to draw on the different perspectives from Washington, London and Brussels; and we provide a ring side seat looking at the political realities for a front line politician in the shape of an interview with the Rt Hon Jim Murphy MP, the UK’s Shadow Secretary of State for Defence.

In the coming weeks and months we will be publishing further content which will look at the Twitter revolution and the role of corporations, the future for association management professionals in the US and Brussels and the growing potential of the Interel International Network as we open our first office in India.

I hope you enjoy our articles and if you like our ideas, feel free to get in touch at any time.
